Shiloh Mountain Trio

Shiloh Mountain Trio will be performing a concert in Hoover Auditorium on Sunday evening beginning at 5:30 pm. The trio will then lead the special music during the opening worship service on Monday at 9:00 am in Hoover Auditorium.

Shiloh Mountain Trio is Ben Massey, Susi Cox and Naomi Hicks. These sisters and brother have been singing together as long as they can remember. Growing up in a Southern Baptist pastor’s home, they had the opportunity to hone their skills in nursing homes and at many church and social events. By the time they were young teens, these 3 of 12 brothers and sisters were traveling nearly every weekend, participating in events from local gatherings, to Jamboree USA. A highlight was the chance to open a show for Dan Seals at the Capital Music Hall in Wheeling, WV.

Ben Massey had become a banjo virtuoso and was winning many awards for his signature lightning fast finger picking on guitar, banjo and mandolin. When they began working full-time jobs as older teens, the group disbanded. Each one went through a prodigal phase that taught them what it means to live the faith about which they had been singing. Ben went to Nashville and spent time writing, producing and rubbing elbows with the local royalty, only to find the experience left him empty and still searching for a meaningful way to use the talents God had so generously given him. Naomi and Susi married wonderful guys and began raising families.

When Ben returned from Nashville in 2005, the trio was sitting around together, reminiscing and singing a few of the old tunes. They decided to share the sounds with a local nursing home and within a few days, received a call to sing at a local church, then another...and another...until they realized that God was holding a door wide open. Shiloh Mountain Trio was born and named in honor of Mt. Shiloh Baptist Church in Cadiz, Ohio, where their father had served as pastor for many years.

Since then, “Shiloh” has truly been blessed of God with a ministry that has taken them all over Ohio and surrounding states, and as far away as Haiti. In 2007, the group released their first project, “This Must Be Glory,” and were blown away by the response. Now hard at work on the next CD, the trio and spouses balance full time jobs, homemaking and a busy concert schedule.

Ben records and produces the trio’s projects in his studio in Akron, Ohio, where he lives with his lovely wife, Andrea, and stepson, Luke. In addition to recording, Ben plays all the instruments that are on the group’s projects. He also writes many of the songs for the trio. Andrea lends her sweet smile and helpful hands to make CDs and schedules available  when “Shiloh” is on the road. She also helps Ben with web design, upkeep of the trio's site, and handles finances.

Susi and her husband, Mark, live in the Dennison, Ohio area. Mark is the group’s expert sound man and stays busy setting up and tearing down the stage, while Susi handles the trio’s scheduling, booking and also writes songs for the group.

Naomi and her husband, Ryan, live in Uhrichsville, Ohio. Naomi sings and plays guitar and also handles marketing/PR. Ryan helps with the equipment hauling, setting up and tearing down. You will also see Ryan in the back row, on babysitting duty from time to time.

Don’t be surprised if you become a fan after hearing these three. The music they share is uplifting and joyful. But each song also brings a message that Shiloh Mtn. Trio is passionate about sharing. That message is the hope they have found in Jesus Christ.
